Alternative Energy Ideas

Electric bicycle with regenerative braking.
WaveCrest has taken its revolutionary Adaptive Motor® technology and applied it to a bicycle creating a faster, more powerful and more fun alternative to yesterday's conventional bicycles. Whether you are looking for a powerful alternative to an automobile for your commute to work, or a little assistance climbing steep hills during your exercise routine, the WaveCrest high-performance electric bicycle is perfect for you. There are many reasons why an electric bicycle would benefit your life.
The bicycle features regenerative braking. During regenerative braking, the motor operates as a generator converting inertia into electrical energy to recharge the battery and extend the bike's range.

Natural light lifts spirits, makes spaces appear larger, and reveals our world in its true color. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it also reduces eyestrain, increases our productivity, and lessens electrical demand. Unfortunately, today's buildings rarely have enough natural light.
But, now it's possible to change that with affordable, yet highly advanced tubular skylights. Using a revolutionary, innovative design, you can capture sunlight on your rooftop, redirect it down a highly reflective shaft, then diffuse it throughout your interior space. The result is remarkable, see for yourself. The product is Solatube®, The Miracle Skylight.

Heating with Corn
Produced in Central Illinois, the A-Maize-ing Heat products are marketed as Corn Burners. However, if you live in an area where dry, shelled corn isn't readily available, these products can be used as Biomass Heating Systems. By biomass, we mean: wood pellets, plastic pellets, most cereal grains, fruit pits, weed seeds, as well as other forms of pelletized waste. The Amaizablaze products come from Nesco, Inc. in Cookeville, TN. If no local dealers are found, I would be willing to help.

Bridge to the Hydrogen Economy
A Hydrogen Economy cannot be realized until low cost hydrogen is readily available. The HydroMax technology invented by Alchemix Corporation has a huge economic advantage over today's dominant hydrogen production method, which requires the use of costly, price-volatile natural gas. By contrast, the HydroMax process uses low cost and waste carbon as its feedstock to produce both hydrogen and electricity. When both co-products are sold at wholesale prices, independent analyses project that hydrogen can be produced at a negative net cost.

Ocean Energy
Generating technologies for deriving electrical power from the ocean include tidal power, wave power, ocean thermal energy conversion, ocean currents, ocean winds and salinity gradients. Of these, the three most well-developed technologies are tidal power, wave power and ocean thermal energy conversion. Tidal power requires large tidal differences which, in the U.S., occur only in Maine and Alaska. Ocean thermal energy conversion is limited to tropical regions, such as Hawaii, and to a portion of the Atlantic coast. Wave energy has a more general application, with potential along the California coast. The western coastline has the highest wave potential in the U.S.; in California, the greatest potential is along the northern coast.

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion Systems
A great amount of thermal energy (heat) is stored in the world's oceans. Each day, the oceans absorb enough heat from the sun to equal the thermal energy contained in 250 billion barrels of oil. OTEC systems convert this thermal energy into electricity - often while producing desalinated water.
